MiniBench

MiniBench: Privacy Policy

Effective Date: October 16, 2026

1. Overview

MiniBench ("the App") is developed by iColasoft ("we", "us"). This Privacy Policy explains what data the App collects, why, who processes it, how long it is kept, and the rights you have over it, including your rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR.

The short version: Your projects and content never leave your device. The App has no accounts and never asks for your name, email, or contact details. It sends two kinds of technical data to Google Firebase: usage analytics (which features are used) and crash reports (what went wrong when the App crashed). Both are tied to a random identifier for your installation of the App, not to who you are, and neither is used for advertising or to track you across other apps or websites.

2. Data We Collect

2.1 What We Do Not Collect

MiniBench does not require account creation, login, or any form of registration. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, precise location, photos, or the advertising identifier (IDFA). We do not collect the contents of your projects or files.

2.2 Usage Analytics

MiniBench uses Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the App is used and to prioritize improvements. We log coarse product events with categorical parameters only. For example: app opened; a project created, opened, exported, or duplicated; an editor or file type opened; a snippet or completion used; a lesson or lab step started or completed; a paywall viewed; an icon pack purchase initiated, completed, restored, or failed; a subscription started. Parameters are limited to categories such as pack type, template name, export format, file type, and icon-pack identifier.

We also set a few coarse user properties: whether you are on the free, monthly, or annual plan, a bucketed count of your projects (for example "4-10"), the week you installed the App, and whether you have ever exported a pack.

Like any Firebase app, the Analytics SDK also collects standard technical data: a random app-instance identifier created when the App is installed; the iOS identifier for vendor (IDFV), which Apple assigns to each developer's apps on your device and which is the same for every iColasoft app you have installed; device model, iOS version, App version, and language; and an approximate location (country, region, and city) derived from your IP address. For users in the EU, Google uses the IP address only to derive that location and then discards it. We use these identifiers only to attribute events from the same device together, so we can count how many devices use a feature rather than how many times it was used.

We do not log the contents of your projects or files, file or project names, file paths, search text, or anything else you type.

2.3 Crash and Diagnostic Data

MiniBench uses Google Firebase Crashlytics to find and fix crashes. When the App crashes, a report is sent the next time you open the App. A report contains the stack trace of the crash, the device model, iOS and App version, free memory and disk space, device orientation, and a random Firebase installation identifier. To help us tell what led up to a crash, the report also carries a breadcrumb trail: the App screens that were open (for example "editor" or "settings"), the analytics events described in Section 2.2, and the device's memory-pressure level and available memory. In addition, iOS reports to the App about once a day how many times it closed the App for using too much memory, and we record that count in Crashlytics. Crash reports do not include your project content, file names, or anything you typed.

Separately, if you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple may share crash reports with us through App Store Connect.

2.4 Content You Create

All content you create in MiniBench, including projects, JSON files, .mcfunction files, textures, and exported packs, is stored locally on your device (or in your own iCloud Drive container if you enable iCloud storage). We never access, read, upload, or process your content, and your content is never included in analytics or crash reports.

3. Third-Party Services

3.1 Apple StoreKit

MiniBench uses Apple's StoreKit framework to process in-app purchases (icon packs) and the optional Pro subscription. All payment processing is handled by Apple. We do not have access to your payment information, credit card details, or Apple ID. For information on how Apple handles your payment data, see Apple's Privacy Policy.

3.2 Google Firebase (Analytics and Crashlytics)

Google processes the data described in Sections 2.2 and 2.3 on our behalf as our data processor. Crash data from Crashlytics is covered by the Firebase Data Processing and Security Terms. Google Analytics is a separate Google service governed by the Google Analytics Terms of Service and the Google Ads Data Processing Terms. We do not use this data for advertising, and the App shows no ads. For more, see Privacy and Security in Firebase and Google's Privacy Policy.

3.3 No Other Third Parties

MiniBench does not integrate with any advertising networks, social media platforms, data brokers, or other third-party services beyond those named above.

4. Data Storage and Retention

Your projects, preferences, and settings are stored locally on your device within the App's sandbox, and your subscription status is managed by Apple's StoreKit. MiniBench supports iOS Files app integration, allowing you to access your project files through the Files app. This is a local-only feature and does not involve any cloud upload by the App.

The data sent to Firebase is kept only as long as we need it:

5. Data Sharing and International Transfers

We do not sell your data or share it with third parties for their own purposes. The only data leaving your device is the analytics and crash data described in Sections 2.2 and 2.3, processed by Google on our behalf.

Google may process this data in the United States and other countries. Where data from the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland is transferred to a country without an adequacy decision, the transfer is covered by Google's certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (and its UK and Swiss extensions) and by the Standard Contractual Clauses in the data processing terms named in Section 3.2.

6. Children's Privacy

MiniBench is a creative tool used by players of all ages. It does not ask anyone, including children, for their name, contact details, or other information that identifies them, and it does not show ads. The analytics and crash data described above are collected the same way for every user, are tied only to the device identifiers described in Section 2.2, and are never used to build a profile of a child or to target them. If you are a parent or guardian and have questions, contact us at the address in Section 10.

7. Your Rights, Including Under the GDPR and UK GDPR

7.1 Who Is Responsible for Your Data

iColasoft is the data controller for the analytics and crash data described in this policy. You can reach us about any privacy matter at support@icolasoft.com.

7.2 Why We Process It (Legal Basis)

Because the identifiers described in Sections 2.2 and 2.3 are unique to your device or installation, data protection law in the EEA and UK can treat this data as personal data even though it does not reveal who you are. The identifiers are pseudonymous: we never combine them with anything that identifies you, such as a name, email address, or account, and we never attempt to work out who is behind them. We process it on the basis of our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR): keeping the App stable by finding and fixing crashes, and understanding which features are used so we can improve them. We have balanced these interests against your rights. The data is minimal, contains no content or contact details, is not used by us for advertising or profiling, and is deleted on the schedule in Section 4.

7.3 Your Rights

If you are in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, you have the right to:

Users elsewhere may have similar rights under their local laws, and we will honor requests from anyone regardless of where they live.

7.4 How to Exercise Them

Email support@icolasoft.com. We will respond within one month. Because the App has no accounts and we never learn who you are, we usually cannot find your data from your name or email alone. We will work with you to locate it where we can, and we will tell you if we are unable to identify it.

To stop all collection, delete the App. Deleting the App removes its app-instance and installation identifiers; if you reinstall it, it starts with new ones that are not connected to the old ones, and the old data is deleted on the schedule in Section 4. The identifier for vendor resets only once every iColasoft app has been removed from the device.

8. Website Analytics (minibench.app)

This section applies to the minibench.app website (these pages), which is separate from the App described above.

The website uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic, for example which pages are visited and roughly where visitors arrive from. We use it only to improve the site. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not sell this data.

Analytics only run after you opt in. On your first visit a cookie banner asks for your choice, and nothing is loaded or sent to Google until you tap “Accept.” If you decline (or ignore the banner), Google Analytics is never loaded and no analytics cookies are set. Your choice is remembered in your browser; clearing this site's data shows the banner again so you can change it. IP addresses are anonymized. The legal basis for website analytics is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by clearing this site's data. For how Google processes this data, see Google's Privacy Policy.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
